THE BRANDING PROCESS.
Every brand shows up differently and no two businesses are the same. Over the years I’ve learned that the sweet spot lies where creative instinct meets good old-fashioned communication, collaboration and common sense.
Whether you’re after an engaging brand identity or a fresh new website, a clear plan keeps everything on-track and on-budget. Here’s what you can expect.
1. IT ALL STARTS WITH A GOOD ‘OL CHAT.
No jargon. No sales pitch. Just a down-to-earth chat about where you're at, what you’re building, and how I can help. I work best with folks who love to get involved and care as much about the details as I do. Before any design work begins, we’ll take the time to get to know each other during a Meet & Greet call and figure out if we’re a good fit - for the project and the bigger picture.
2. LET’S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS.
Off the back of this intro call, I’ll send you over a proposal, so we’re clear on deliverables, budget and timeline. When you’re happy, we’ll make it official with a contract and a 50% deposit to secure your date. The rest can be split across the project in instalments, so everything stays smooth and stress-free. I’ll set you up with a client portal which will be your hub for everything to do with the project.
3. IN THE WORKSHOP
Once this is done, we’ll have a Brand Discovery Workshop, a 1-2 hour session where we go through a series of exercises and answer questions about your business, your goals and your market, plus a load more.
This will help us to build out your brand strategy and supporting visual brand identity. We’ll cover loads of things in this workshop, so it’s worth bringing a cup of coffee (or tea) and a few biscuits!
Before any pixels are pushed, we then take a step back to align on the bigger picture. That means building out Moodboards and Concepts - a mix of visuals, textures, type, and colour that helps capture the look and feel we’re aiming for.
4. GETTING ON THE SAME PAGE.
Next up is the Concept Presentation - this is where the ideas really start to flow. I’ll bring two creative concepts to the table, and you’ll share what feels right (or wrong) for your brand. It’s a low-pressure, high-reward stage that makes sure we’re heading in the right direction before we get stuck into the details.
Inside the Concept Presentation, I’ll lay out the creative direction for your new brand - what’s included, why it works, and how it all ties back to your mission, vision, values and personality. You’ll see mock-ups and real-world examples to help you visualise the designs in action, plus a breakdown of the thinking behind each element. It’s all about clarity, context, and showing you exactly how your brand can come to life.
5. THE ‘NITTY GRITTY’.
From the Concept Presentation, you’ll choose one main concept to move forward with. I’ll start building out the chosen direction, gathering all your feedback, working through the brand strategy, and shaping the ideas into their finished form. You’ll then get a fresh round of designs to review, which will count as your first set of revisions. I’ll jump back in and refine and develop your new visual identity, tweaking layouts, colours, or elements based on your feedback. You’ll get one final round of revisions to ensure everything feels just right, but in the rare instance where you need extra tweaks we can build in additional rounds or keep things flexible with add-ons. Either way, I like to keep the process focused and collaborative - so we’re not stuck in endless loops, and the work stays sharp.
6. ALL SYSTEMS ‘GO!’.
Once you give the final green light, I’ll package up all your design files - neatly organised and perfectly formatted for wherever you need to use them, from print to pixel.
You’ll receive these in a nice folder, along with your brand guidelines and a handy file guide so you never have to wonder what a PNG or PDF is for again.
