Hi, I’m David!

When I was growing up, you’d find me watching history documentaries, listening to music from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, exploring museums and libraries, and getting out and photographing old buildings. Pretty much anything before my time got my interest.

I got this love of nostalgia from my grandparents (that’s them below!) and I spent much of my childhood with them. In fact, even though they’re no longer here, they’re the reason Walker Design Co. got its name.

My fascination with the old has never left me, and has instead woven its way into different areas of my life, in particular, my entrepreneurial spirit. I’d trawl car boots, jumble sales and garage clearances, looking for old furniture, records and books to collect and fix up.

After graduating from De Montfort University and beginning my career in marketing and design, I managed to tickle my entrepreneurial itch by helping business owners with their branding and marketing, working with small businesses from antiques stores to furniture reclaimers, bookshops to coffee shops.

This love of craft, character, and things built to last led me to start Walker Design Co. - a studio focused on creating brands that have real personality, real warmth, and something worth remembering.

What you get with me.

Walker Design Co. was built on old-fashioned principles: craft, hard work, and personality. I don’t do throwaway. I don’t do trendy. I design for real businesses with real problems - using design to solve, not just to decorate.

Every brand identity I create starts with getting to know you. What makes your business tick, and how do we communicate that to your audience? From there, it’s all about crafting something solid - not just a logo, but a system. A story. A set of tools that helps you show up with clarity and confidence, day after day.

I care about the small stuff - the details that often go unnoticed, but make all the difference. Because a good brand isn’t just pretty. It’s practical, it’s purposeful, and it’s built to grow with you.

I keep things personal, collaborative, and straightforward - sharing progress, asking questions, and refining together as we go. You’ll never be left in the dark, and you’ll always know what’s happening next.

No big agency layers. No fluff. Just honest design, clear communication, and a process built on trust, craft, and getting it right.

Branding doesn’t have to be overwhelming - it can actually be pretty fun.

That’s the kind of work I do here. Honest, well-made design that stands the test of time.

On every single project, my aims are simple:

  • By working closely with you, I aim to truly understand the story behind your business and where it’s going, and together we work towards a cohesive and engaging brand identity that’s aligned with your mission and goals.

  • Whatever the size of your business (or budget), I’ve built my branding services and process to help you fall back in love with your brand. Through our Discovery Workshop, we’ll collaboratively develop a strategy that gives you the confidence to shout about your brand from the rooftops.

  • I’ll use colours, typography, photography, illustration and more to help you captivate and engage your audience, delivering a visual identity you and your customers will remember and love.

  • Before putting pen to pixel, we’ll clarify and define your customers & competitors, your goals, objectives and your brand story to create a visual identity and strategy that is well-thought out and backed by research, not just looks, and means you can grow your business the right way.

  • One of my most important aims is to provide an experience that helps you reconnect with your brand, provides as much value to you as possible, and is (most-importantly) fun.

  • Whether I’m working with a micro-brewery just starting up, or a heritage clothing brand that’s been around for decades, you’ve put your trust in me, and I don't take that for granted. I treat any work as if I were working on my own business and will work tirelessly to ensure you’re more than happy with the outcome.

The Workshop

I run Walker Design Co. from my workshop in Ipswich, Suffolk. Here you’ll find me working on new brand identities, designing a new font, or flicking through a 1930’s magazine or newspaper cuttings to find inspiration. Workshop visits are strictly by appointment only, however I’m happy to welcome local clients to the workshop for a coffee during our discovery sessions!
